Have you ever worried about what life will be like for the next generation of Catholics - the challenges they'll face, how they'll learn about Jesus in an increasingly difficult culture? If so, please consider becoming a catechist! By sharing the faith with the children of our parish, you can have a direct impact on the souls of these young people.
Our philosophy here at St. Columba is that the primary purpose of religious education is to foster a relationship with Jesus. While we study Church teachings, the Bible, and other facts, we do so in a way that keeps the faith central, always bringing it back to the student's personal friendship with Our Lord.
Feel worried that you don't know enough about the faith to be able to pass it on well? Our main requirement is that you are living the Catholic faith genuinely and authentically. We can help you with the rest! As Pope Paul VI said, "Modern man listens more willingly to witnesses than to teachers, and if he does listen to teachers, it is because they are witnesses."
Will you witness to our students?
