Cardinal's Appeal

Friends, once again we are asked, as Catholics of the Archdiocese of New York, to join together in participating in the Cardinal’s Annual Stewardship Appeal. Confident that the Spirit of God will provide us the gifts that we need, we trust that we will be able to faithfully respond to anything that Our Lord is asking from us, including serving those in need. Ultimately, everything that we have is a gift from God. In gratitude, we are called to be good stewards by supporting our Church as She fulfills Her mission.  The $21 Million dollars in funds raised for this year’s Appeal will be used for the following needs in our Archdiocese:

$9M ­– Assistance for financially vulnerable parishes
$5M – Charitable outreach and pastoral support
$4M – Evangelization, Communications and Catholic Education
$1M – Formation of New Parish Priests
$2M – Care for retired priests

To those who faithfully support the Appeal every year, we are very grateful. If you did not participate last year or have never participated, we ask you to consider this invitation. Indeed, every family in all 280+ parishes of our Archdiocese is invited to join in this mission.

This year, our parish is asked to raise $136,500.00 for the Appeal. Last year, we raised $168,126.00 – a new record for St. Columba.  We also had a record 566 families and individuals participate. Please know that if all of us here today participate we will easily reach our goal this year.

By now you should have received a letter from Cardinal Dolan, with a pledge card to make your gift. Pledges can be fulfilled over several months. If you did not receive a pledge card, you can make a gift online. Thank you for your generous response to our archdiocese, as well as your constant support to our parish.
