First Penance Information

Preparing your child for First Penance is a huge milestone in their life of faith, but it can also be a difficult sacrament to explain. It can seem scary or intimidating to go to Confession, especially for the first time, so we will work with you to prepare your student for an age-appropriate, stressfree, and joyful reception of this sacrament of mercy.

At St. Columba, reception of First Penance takes place during the second grade. If your student has not yet received First Penance and is older than Grade 2, please reach out to us, and we will enroll them in our OSS (Out of Sequence Sacraments) program to assist them in receiving the sacrament.
