The Music Ministry of the parish of St. Columba desires to help every person attending a Mass at our parish connect the celebration of the liturgy with his or her own life of faith. We do this by having a music program for each weekend liturgy, by carefully selecting liturgical music that supports the Word for that specific liturgy, and by enlisting the help of competent musicians to lead the congregation in musical prayer.

Who are We?
We are people of faith; regular parishioners of St. Columba parish who have jobs, lead families or attend school and commit one evening a week to rehearsal and to one specific weekend Mass. Some of us are people who have had formal musical training. Some of us have natural talent that we are willing to share and are mentored by other members of the music ministry. We are led by a professional music director who is a certified music teacher. We have a culture of welcoming new members.
 
 
The Adult Choir is open to all parishioners from high school age on up. Members needed! ... Choral singing experience is helpful, so that we can sing with 4-part harmony (Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass), but not necessary.  We plan to sing music in a variety of
styles, ranging from classical masterworks to lively spirituals. Piano, organ, and occasional wind and string instruments accompany our group. We will strive not only for musical excellence, but also for a sense of ministry to the congregation and to each other. We rehearse in the church on Wednesdays from 7:30 to 9:00 PM, and sing semi-monthly at the Sunday 9:00 Mass, alternating with the Youth Choir,

The Contemporary Choir is made up of adult and high school age parishioners. The choir, singing in 3- to 4-part harmony, emphasizes contemporary musical styles, accompanied by guitar, piano, and occasionally percussion and other instruments.
 
We sing weekly at the 10:30 Sunday Mass.
Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings at 7:30 in the Church, and we always welcome new
members!
 
 
The  Youth Choir includes young people, Grades 3 and up.
Children with a desire to participate need to be able to read, sit for Mass and pay attention during our one-hour rehearsals. We meet in church on Thursdays from 6-7pm, and sing semi-monthly at the 9:00am mass on Sundays, alternating with the Adult Choir.
 
Members who have the musical ability, maturity and confidence are given opportunities for solo and small ensemble singing. Our group


sings music in a variety of styles, accompanied by piano, organ and sometimes additional instruments. New members are always welcome.
 
We make our music ministry a joyful as well as a prayerful experience.
