Imagine if Jesus appeared right in front of you. What would you do? What would you ask Him? What do you think He would say to you?
Eucharistic Adoration is the opportunity to find out! In Adoration, the Eucharist - Jesus truly present in the Host - is placed on the altar in a vessel called a monstrance (which means "to show"). Instead of being tucked away in the tabernacle, you're able to see Jesus face-to-face, providing a more personal, intimate prayer experience. Outside of the Mass, it's about as close to heaven as we can get here on earth!
At St. Columba, we have the incredible privilege of having Eucharistic Adoration for eight hours every weekday. Take a break from the chaos and noise of everyday life and come sit with Our Lord in silent prayer. Whether you stay for five minutes or five hours, you'll discover a peace and rest found only in Him.
Adoration takes place in our dedicated Adoration Chapel in the Convent Building. You can enter through the front doors (directly across the parking lot from the church entrance) and make a right through the swinging double doors into the chapel.
Adoration is intentionally unstructured. You can read the Bible, pray the Rosary or other devotions, journal or read devotionals, or just simply sit silently in Jesus' Presence. It's like a conversation with a good friend: tell Him everything that is on your heart, thank Him for the gifts He's given you, and just listen.
In our Adoration Chapel, we have a number of prayer resources that you are welcome to use, including rosaries, the Stations of the Cross, and a number of devotionals on the bookshelf (in the back left corner of the room).
The two main things that we ask is that you keep a quiet reverence and that you never leave Jesus alone in the monstrance (out of respect and safety, there must be someone adoring at all times while the Eucharist is exposed).
Want to make a regular Holy Hour? We are able to keep our Adoration Chapel open daily because of scheduled adorers who commit to spending an hour (or more) per week. If you are interested in signing up to become a regular adorer, you can do so using our online Adoration Scheduling software. You'll be able to pick the day and time each week that will work for your schedule, and once you have selected your time, you will also be able to request a substitute if needed.

"The chapel brings me closer to Jesus so that I am able to sit with Him and allow Jesus to give me all I need. Many years of being with Him has nourished me, changed me and given me much needed peace and love! My piece of heaven." - Rosemary Thorn, Regular Adorer
