Who is eligible to receive First Penance and First Holy Communion at St. Columba Parish?
Children who are parishioners and have completed one full year of religious instruction (generally in grade 1) are eligible to prepare for the reception of the Sacraments of First Penance and First Holy Communion.
What if my child did not receive First Penance and First Holy Communion in 2nd Grade?
Children in grades 3 or older grades are able to prepare for First Penance and First Holy Communion through special programs that involve monthly group sessions with parents and their child/ren. At St. Columba these programs are called OSS (Out of Sequence Sacraments - for middle grade students OR RCIA for teens - for junior high and high school students).
What if an adult wishes to receive the Sacrament of Baptism, Penance, Holy Communion and/or Confirmation?
Formation for adults exploring reception into the Catholic Church or wishing to complete reception of Sacraments of Penance, Holy Communion and/or Confirmation may do so through monthly meetings of the RCIA for adults. These meetings are held each Tuesday evening.
