The St. Joseph’s Men’s Group at St. Columba is a men’s organization that meets twice a month on Saturday mornings at 7:00 am. The meetings are very informal with a lot of friendly banter, all while going into an in-depth discussion of a Bible passage (Gospel reading or another Scripture passage). This environment has created many friendships all while learning more about our faith and our proper role as men with our families. St. Joseph played a critical role in Jesus’s early years and is a wonderful role model for today’s men.
It’s not all study, however. We do things. We do community service projects for parishioners and others. We are most proud of our ministry of making bunk beds for kids who have no place to sleep. We call this program "Every Kid Deserves a Bed." We have worked with local Catholic Charities, the
Sisters of Life, as well as referrals from our own parish for placement of these beds. What could be better than having a robust spiritual life, and strong family life, all while using power tools?
